Hi there, Dawn here…..
What do goosebumps and weight gain have in common? Well, they can both be your body’s way of protecting you.
I was taking the kids to school this morning when I noticed I had goosebumps. My youngest wanted to know what they were. I started to explain how they were trapping air to keep me warm. (A response that works better in animals – I don’t have super hairy arms!) Anyway, this got me thinking about how we don’t always appreciate, or understand, what our bodies do to help us survive.
Have you ever felt frustrated that, no matter what you do, you just can’t shift your weight? You just can’t stop those cravings or maybe you feel driven to eat the very foods you are trying to reduce. Or, perhaps you are able to eat less, but still don’t lose as much weight as you expected.
This could be because your body thinks it needs to store fat to protect you or to help you survive.
So, why would your body think that? And what can you do about it?
I’ve made a quick video to explain this. Your body’s on your side – it doesn’t have to be something you struggle against every time you try to lose weight.
